Since 1950, Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) has exemplified excellence in patient care, medical education and community service. As a not-for-profit entity, the hospital originally opened its doors as a community owned, 75-bed hospital, serving the nearly 22,000 people who then resided in Midland County, Texas. Today, the hospital has expanded to support the growing community and now offers 468 licensed beds and the most advanced medical services from a dedicated staff of healthcare providers.
Midland Memorial Hospital’s pledge for over 60 years has been to deliver quality healthcare to the residents of Midland County and the surrounding region. This month, the hospital furthered that commitment by adopting cutting edge technology to clean hospital rooms. The V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer from UltraViolet Devices, Inc. (UVDI) is now deployed at MMH to provide superior surface disinfection in patient rooms, operating rooms and other areas of the hospital.
The V-360+ in use at MMH is a mobile ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) device that is utilized by environmental services staff to disinfect hospital rooms after cleaning. It generates high intensity UV energy and quickly disinfects surfaces contaminated with viruses, bacteria and fungi, including superbugs such as MRSA and C. difficile.
“Midland Memorial Hospital purchased UVDI’s V-360+ based on its proven track record,” said Val Sparks RN, BSN, CIC, Infection Prevention & Control, Midland Memorial Hospital. “We evaluated other vendors in the market and chose UVDI for its ease of use, mobility and cost effectiveness. We are all concerned with the rise in Clostridium difficile and other MDROs within hospitals and this new technology has given MMH additional resources to combat the spread of these powerful pathogens. Preventing the spread of infections is top priority at MMH.”
“UVDI’s V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer is now an integral part of Midland Memorial Hospital’s proactive efforts to achieve superior surface disinfection,” added Henry Abramson, Regional Sales Specialist at UVDI. “Midland Memorial Hospital joins a growing list of healthcare providers across the country who have adopted the V-360+ to provide the highest level of service and care available to their patients and staff.”
